La la la la la la la~
Ooh, music on my brain~
La la la la la la la la~
I've got music on my brain
(Is that something original, or does it actually exist somewhere...? I wonder...because that would make an excellent song...and now I think I will make my own song of that...wow...)
I've got music on my brain, as you can probably tell. Stuff like One Direction (still surprised on that subject, but I got my sister hooked on them, which I'm sure the fanbase will thank me for...) Demi Lovato (from her new album and old ones alike, there are quite a few awesome songs that I love) Secondhand Serenade (okay, so maybe not that popular, I have no idea, but I love the piano and the not-really-love-songs...well, the songs I like anyways) Little Mix (they sound amazing, and their songs are...different to me) Ed Sheeran (amazing guitar, especially in Little Bird) The Wanted (Actually, you can blame, or thank, One Direction for Little Mix, Ed Sheeran, and the Wanted, because I'd never heard of/barely heard of them before One Direction...I'm quite thankful though, because the UK people sound better in my ears than the people from USA or other places somehow...and it's not just because I find their accents intriguing...) Selena Gomez (not entirely fond of her new album, but like with Demi I'm re-finding a lot of her older songs better to listen to as well) There was someone else as well, but I can't remember it right now.
So yeah, not too interesting, seeing the stuff I like listening to. But I felt like mentioning it. Because that's not the only music stuck on my brain.
See, (warning: random but not completely unrelated rambling here) I have no idea exactly what I want to do with my life in terms of as a lifelong career. I know that I definitely want to be an artist, and for a long time I've said I want to draw. Then I said that I want to do 3d modelling. And then I thought about music and writing. Now I'm stuck, because I don't know which one I want to do.
I realize that I could probably get all three done at some point, and unless you're kind of lucky and make it really big it's probably not the most successful career, but for now I only really want to stick with one so I can focus on that and work on the others in my spare time for fun.
I have ideas for all three/four, depending on if you count drawing/painting in the same category as 3d modelling or not (thank you active imagination) but right now I find that the easiest for me to convert those ideas into something anyone else can understand in some way is with writing. Music comes next easiest, and would probably be a lot easier than even writing if I knew all the notes and chords and all that other stuff (I like listening to music, but I admit to not knowing too much about how it all gets put together) Drawing is actually really hard because I lack the skills to make my picture end up how I want it to be. There's always something wrong with it, and I don't know how to fix it because I don't know what I'm doing. But 3d modelling is hardest for me, simply because I have no idea what I need to do. Period.
But I'm looking more into music right now. Years ago, my dad played guitar a lot (this was before playing the Halo games became his hobby, and I'd much prefer it if he went back to the guitars) and I got a small guitar for my birthday one year (I was a tiny child) and it still works even now. Yeah, it's mostly gathering dust right now, but that's only because we need to get a new tuner (I only knew of one, which broke, but apparently we have a second one hidden away somewhere) and my dad's ears are not what they used to be so he actually needs it. But he did tune it most of the way, so that's something.
Anyways, as soon as we can find that other tuner or buy a new one (probably going to end up buying a new one) I can get my guitar tuned, my dad can re-teach me how to play it, and I can finally cross off one of the items on my to-do list for making music.
Also, if we can get a tuner then I can get my violin tuned...well, as soon as I get a new bow...I'm not sure how, but I think that it's the years of disuse that made the hairs start falling off...and then I can cross off another thing on my music to-do list. I can play the violin a little, and that's good enough for me.
As for other parts of music, I can use FL Studio for most of it, or one of the two awesome keyboards if we can get the basement cleaned up to my mom's satisfaction and keep it that way (it has never happened so far where we can get and keep it clean for more than a week or two) I'd prefer the keyboards, because it makes more sense to me and it's a lot easier timing things with my hands playing on the keys than trying to do the same thing on FL Studio (you can plug in a midi keyboard, but I don't have one and would much rather use a better keyboard, so I'm stuck with either using the mouse, which sucks, or the laptop keyboard, which almost sucks even more) Also, I can't open my saved projects on FL Studio, me only have the demo version (I really need to get a job...) so it kind of makes the whole effort of making a simple tune worthless.
Well, one thing I can't (or can but won't) do on FL Studio or the keyboard is vocals. I think that I'm a decent singer (but there again, it's my perspective. I know that others will say I'm good, and others will say bad) Most of my problem is recording my voice, because I have awful microphones (internal sucks, and the headset I'm using isn't really all that awesome) But I have a plan.
See, along with playing the guitar, my dad actually made music and has all this fancy equipment in the basement (just another motivation to get it cleaned up, for me anyways) and I hope that I can convince him to let me use some of it (and for him to actually show me how it works, because right now all I see is equipment with knobs and buttons that do all sorts of stuff that I have no idea how to use) Then I won't have any problem as far as recording goes.
Haha, I have this whole plan worked out in my head (and now here, obviously) but I have no idea if anything will actually come out of it. And even if I manage to sell my music and become a big star, I'm not entirely sure I want to be famous. Seriously, is there a way to make a lot of money with music without needing to be necessarily famous (you know, with concerts and tours and in general being require to show up somewhere and perform in front of who knows how many people) Because if there is, I would love to know. My stage fright and general shyness/antisocialness (is that even a word?) is really the biggest thing holding me back from the music path. Not that I have any expectations of becoming famous either way, but still...
So yeah, just a plan in my head. No doubt that it'll take forever and a day to get it all together (in other words, a few weeks while my parents sort out the basement and waiting to see if it can be kept clean, another few weeks trying to convince my dad to get a new tuner before most likely ending buying one myself, getting the instruments tuned, and convincing my mom to let me use the keyboards, and however much longer for me to get the music in my head a sound that everyone can hear) if at all, actually, but it's still better than nothing. Who knows, maybe I'll be the next Taylor Swift (well, without the having numerous boyfriends part...) Haha, I doubt it, but it's something
A bit of a long-ish post that is probably irrelevant to most, but I had to put this down somewhere. Besides, someone might find it interesting...
And I doubt that this will actually get a response, but does anyone know of any good over-ear headphones that are noise-cancelling that are under $50 USD? Because I would love that...not only for music, but just in general. I'd rather not damage my ears further, but right now I have no real way to block out sounds of the bickering of my family...and earplugs don't work with me for some odd reason. And in-ear earbuds are also a big no. They always fall out, no matter the size of the cushion things (whatever they're called) or how I put it in. And they're painful too...
And now to get back to writing that song...
