Happy Halloween! Here are some cartoon theories that might ruin your childhood...

Happy Halloween! Enjoy a rather creepy post that has nothing to do with the actual holiday!

I was listening to a Vocaloid song the other day that sparked my interest...and led me down a road full of crazy that would've ruined my childhood if I didn't find it so interesting.

So, if you're a fan of the cartoons (I'm going over Rugrats, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Pokemon, Phineas and Ferb, and Courage the Cowardly Dog) and you don't want the image of that ruined, do yourself a favor and don't read the rest of this post.

However, if you're like me and want to see what theories other people have made up about them, by all means continue reading. Because while some are insane and can't possibly be real, others have a disturbing sense of realism that could actually fit...

Disclaimer: All these theories are not real. They are made for entertainment purposes only. Or to scare people maybe. Point is, they're not real.

Also, this post contains topics that younger audiences might not want to read and can possibly ruin your childhood memories of the shows I mentioned. Read at your own risk.

Okay, first up is the Rugrats theory. Following is the video I found that made me start to question everything I ever thought I knew about the show...

Okay, so the song itself, while disturbing in lyrics alone (and even more disturbing with the pictures) doesn't do the theory justice. The link to the Creepypasta Wiki in the description isn't the right link, so I'll link to the proper page for you: http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Rugrats_Theory

(By the way, browse with caution through the rest of the site if you choose to do so...some of the stuff can and will give you nightmares...and this is coming from a girl that laughs while watching horror/creepy movies and hasn't had a nightmare since the days when Barbie dolls were just about the best birthday present I could've gotten...)

And for the people who don't want to click the link for whatever reason but still want to know what I sum it up as (or if you just want to know my opinion anyways) here's how I see it:

  • Angelica is schizophrenic, and with the exception of Dil, the other babies are figments of her imagination.
  • Tommy was a stillborn, and Stu makes toys for the son who never had a chance to live.
  • Chuckie died when he was born with his mother, which is why Chaz is always a nervous wreck.
  • The twins Phil and Lil aren't actually twins, but the DeVilles had an abortion and Angelica didn't know if it was a boy or girl and so decided to make the character into both a boy and a girl.
  • Angelica hit Dil on the head when he was a baby because she thought that he was a figment of her imagination like the rest of the babies and he wouldn't listen to her, which is why he's sort of retarded (I don't really see him as retarded though. He's just weird, plain and simple as that)
  • Kimi was taken away from Kira because she was a cocaine addict, and Angelica made her up based on Kira's stories.
  • Kira married Chaz (after finding out that Coco only wanted to marry him for his money) and this is about the only happy part of it all.
  • Suzie is real as well, entertaining Angelica's imagination for her sake.
  • In All Grown Up! Angelica got addicted to narcotics that brought back her childhood creations, who are older because of the time lapse in between being babies and teenager years.
  • Angelica's mom died of a heroine overdose and Charlotte is just her stepmother. Angelica believed that Charlotte was her real mom, but somehow kept the idea of her real mother and sort of remade her with her Cynthia doll.
  • All Grown Up! was cancelled when Angelica died of overdose.

And that's it for the original version. I could list a few extras for the 'tweaked' version, but I don't like that one as much, and I've always preferred the originals for most things anyways. It's really disturbing, and despite the fact that it doesn't match up exactly in my eyes, it does raise questions that I don't really want to think about.

Up next (and not as disturbing as the Rugrats Theory, but sort of still just as distressing in a way) is the Ed, Edd, and Eddy Theory.

In very basic terms, the Ed, Edd, and Eddy theory says that the kids in the cul-de-sac are all dead and in limbo/purgatory.

The more in-depth theory goes more in-depth (as one would imagine)

  • All the kids died far before their time.
  • Rolf was the first to die. He was born in another land and moved to the area before it was developed on a farm. He died when a bull trampled him to death, which is why he didn't bring cattle with him in limbo (and also the part of this theory that makes absolutely no sense, because he does have cows in the show)
  • Jonny died second. He moved to the area, and because there were no other kids and he didn't work in the fields, he used his imagination to entertain himself. He made up Plank and together they explored the countryside. Then he got bedridden with tuberculosis and died, with Plank standing by him.
  • Eddy died third while the Great Depression was in full swing when a scam went wrong (he drowned trying to cross the local river when he was running away from the angry kids who he tried to scam) And because he lived in the age of the Depression, even in limbo he loves getting a dollar.
  • Ed and Sarah moved into the area during World War II. Sarah is mean and angry and bossy so often because she's imitating her working mother, while Ed shut everything out and became obsessed with comic books and scary movies that popped up after World War II ended. They both died in a car accident as their mother was taking them to see their grandmother.
  • Nazz was a hippie child that seemed to have a pretty decent and fun life up until her death, which involved a serial killer raping her and killing her with her family. And like Ed, she also shut her family out, which is why she never gets demands from them. (Also doesn't make much sense, because she mentions her aunt and mother, according to the wiki dedicated to the show)
  • Edd's parents were very controlling, which is why he's intelligent and shy. He loved experimenting when he was given a break from school and chores, which led to his demise with a Bunsen burner and a gas leak tore him and the house apart. Even after death he still follows his parent's written orders.
  • Kevin had an abusive dad in real life and bullied other kids because of his anger and cynicism. He died on the way to the hospital after his dad beat him up for trying to stand up to him. After death, he changed his perception of his dad to shower him with gifts.
  • Jimmy had leukemia since he was barely old enough to walk and was neglected by the outside world because he was very sickly and had over-protective parents. He lived in state of near death for a long time before he finally caved and died.
  • And the Kanker sisters are weirdest of all, as they were never on the earthly plane of existence. They're actually children of demons and possess abilities usually impossible, such as appearing nearly anywhere instantly. They were sent to the neighborhood to torment the already suffering souls. Their obsessions with the Eds may be because they are the weakest willed members.

Now, this theory has some pretty obvious flaws in it (such as the two I already pointed out) and someone else pointed out that when Edd delivers Ed and Eddy's report cards their parents grab it (thus proving that there are  parents in the show) Not to mention the fact that in one episode the kids go crazy and start breaking all the rules and Edd calls everyone's parents. It also completely omits Eddy's brother. What happened to him?

But all in all, it's still pretty interesting. I didn't actually watch the show all that much (my mom never approved of it, and along with shows like Family Guy and the Simpsons, it's banned from us watching it, even though we did defy her orders and watch it when she didn't realize) but I still remember a bit. This is probably the stupidest theory I've come across while still being somewhat true to the original story, but it's still interesting to me.

There's also the "Ash's Coma" theory that basically states that Ash slipped into a coma after getting hit by lightning and all the Pokemon and other characters in the Pokemon universe are aspects of himself in some way.

But the theory is too long for me to make bullet points about, so I think the link to the Creepypasta Wiki (which is just as explanatory as I would be) would be more suited here. Ash's Coma Theory

This is probably one of the best and most reasonable theories I've seen out there. I admit to not watching the anime too much and losing interest in the whole series after the fifth region (they used ice cream cones and garbage as inspirations...unimpressed) but from what I actually do remember, it sounds like this could possibly be very real. So far, it's the theory I like most.

And here is where I would be putting a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic theory, but as it turns out, there are multiple ones and I'm probably going to end up doing another post if I can manage to stomach reading the gruesome stories (not a fan of gory stuff, and some of these theories most definitely count as gory)

And then comes Phineas and Ferb. There are also a few different theories out there, but the main one (that I can't seem to find the original link that I read a few days ago) says that Candace is schizophrenic (and a real person) and everything was all in her head, which is why her mother never believes her, and that she wrote it all down in a diary and eventually killed herself...for the record, after a bit of searching, this theory is debunked. This link here explains it all for you.

Strange picture, huh? Well, it's from this site that explains three theories for Courage the Cowardly dog.

To sum it all up:
  • The first theory says that Courage the Cowardly dog is in fact just a normal, cowardly dog and he only believes that he lives in the middle of nowhere because his owners are too old to take him for walks and all the monsters and bad guys that are seemingly trying to ruin things (particularly attempting to capture Muriel from what I remember) are just unfamiliar to him, which would probably explain why Muriel and Eustace never seem to worried about anything that ever happens.
  • The second theory is sadder, saying that Courage is actually Muriel and Eustace's grandson that was beaten to deformity by his father and was sent to live with them after his father committed suicide. Muriel believes that he is her son, and Eustace is unkind to him because he blames Courage for his son's death.
  • The third is the theory that Courage is an unconventional Cerberus (you know, from the Greek and Roman stories? Also, this is probably what that picture up there represents) Eustace is Satan, Muriel is the gate that keeps people from the living world (I guess you could put it that way) and Courage is the thing stopping them all from escaping.
Personally, I like the first theory because it actually makes more sense than the other two. This didn't ruin my memory of the show, but actually made it more interesting. If I ever find the time and will, I'll probably go and rewatch the show just to see what I think of it now.

And that's it for this post. I'm strangely interested in this topic, so I'll probably be scouring the internet for more theories in the near future so I can make another post someday. A My Little Pony one will definitely be up if and when I can stomach reading through the gory stories. But in the meantime, I should be getting that mashup post done soon.

Happy Halloween! I hope that you had/have a great time and don't get nightmares from this (if you're still reading, that is)
